Preventive Dental Treatments

Prevention dentistry is a branch of science that deals with the treatment of people before the occurrence of dental diseases or with early detection. The preventive dentist’s task is to protect healthy teeth without damaging them. For children, preventive dentists are of great importance. There are two types of treatments in preventive dentistry:

Pit and Fissure Sealer Treatments

Indentations and protrusions on tooth surfaces cause caries due to the accumulation of food debris. This is the covering and protection of these surfaces with a transparent layer of fissure sealing material similar to filler. In children, fissure sealants are applied. This application helps to protect children’s teeth from decay. The application is recommended for children from the age of 6.

Fluorine Treatments

Up to the age of 15, children’s teeth absorb everything useful and harmful like a sponge. Until the age of 15, fluoride applications protect against caries better than dental fillings. Fluorine treatments are usually carried out by paediatric dentists.
