Endodontic Treatments

Endodontology is a branch of science that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that occur in the tissues surrounding the tooth as well as in living tissues such as nerves and vessels inside the tooth. Endodontology is now known as the specialty that performs root canal treatment. Specialists in endodontics deal with the whitening of teeth that are treated endodontically, surgical applications or the treatment of teeth that have been subjected to trauma.

Treatment by specialists in endodontology primarily serves to protect the patient’s natural teeth. That is why their primary goal is to protect the teeth in the mouth as much as possible. In addition to root canal treatment, endodontists also perform regeneration treatments to protect the tooth.

After the decision about the endodontic treatment, a local anaesthetic is applied so that the patient does not feel any pain. First of all, the decayed teeth are cleaned. With special instruments, the pulp tissue (vessels and nerves) inside the tooth is cleaned. The cleaned tooth root is covered with a suitable filling material and the crown is put on. It is quite normal to be sensitive for a few days after a root canal treatment.
